60th anniversary global eventIn 2026, UNESCO is marking the 60th anniversary of International Literacy Day. The global celebration is being held on 8β9 September 2026 in Chiapas, Mexico, in collaboration with the Government of Mexico.
The event also includes the presentation of the UNESCO International Literacy Prizes, recognizing outstanding literacy programmes from around the world.
